Supervise, coordinate and communicate the movement of containerized product from importation to warehouse storage and distribution facilities throughout the country. Supervise the flow of orders and products to ensure productivity from all containerized product warehouses to Suzuki dealers. Monitor warehouse shipping activity. Generate reports for division heads associated with monthly shipping from each SMAI motorcycle and marine warehouse facility. Develop processes and reporting systems to enhance and continually improve the Logistics Department. Establish guidelines and requirements for freight carriers and public warehouse facilities. File freight damage claims and audit invoices associated with this product movement.
1 Back Order Release Selection and Supervision. Oversee the distribution of motorcycle/ATV/Marine product to each warehouse facility. Release product to dealers in a fair and equitable manner according to backorder schedules. Monitor the size of each release to reach desired goals. Advise the warehouses and Sales Dept. of the future back order release dates at least two weeks ahead of time. Generate reports to analyze appropriate shipping of product from warehouse to dealer. 2 Supervise and Analyze Warehouse Activity. Establish guidelines for each SMAI public warehouse to ensure appropriate handling of all SMAI product types. Monitor the shipping rate of each warehouse facility. Supervise each warehouse to ensure that errors are corrected and service levels continually improve. Monitor SCA and supervise each warehouse to ensure that orders ship within 48 hours of release to the warehouse. Correct any warehouse shipping errors 3 Supervise Truckload Delivery from Warehouse Facilities. With each backorder release, analyze all orders for potential truckloads. Administer the release for the Rome, GA facility for local and top dealers. Create truckloads when advantageous. Assist the dealers with any special needs to ensure that product is appropriately received. 4 Carrier Relations and Service Work with carriers on a regular basis to ensure good service at the warehouse and dealer levels. Analyze carrier service levels and rates to ensure appropriate alignment with the requirements of Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.. Make suggestions for improvement to allow for increased service levels to dealers 5 Motorcycle and Marine Sales Order Support Analyze dealer shipments for each warehouse facility. Ensure that each dealer receives product from the appropriate location. Set up primary warehouse and carriers for each new dealer. Make any carrier changes for dealers as requested. Ensure that orders are reviewed and processed in a timely manner. 6 Department Support, Report Generation/Analysis and Special Projects. Provide support to the Logistics Department as needed. Develop reports that assist with continual position and department development as requested by department management. Make suggestions to solve challenging problems and assist the Logistics Department to continually provide superior company service at all levels. 7 Model Master Set Up and Maintenance. Create and Maintain and oversee motorcycle and marine Model masters for each model year. Work with various departments to collect data and ensure 100% accuracy of entries 8 Oversee Vessel and Port Operations to ensure effective and efficient Product Movement. Monitor vessel arrival including maintaining and communicating vessel schedule. Monitor the daily operations plan of the container freight station and work with them to change it daily as necessary to meet SMAI distribution requirements. Oversee container movement to the container freight station. 9 Manage Movement of Containerized Product from Port/Plant to Public Warehouses. Manage the movement, delivery and receipt of containers and trailers to each public warehouse facility, parts distribution facility and SMAC. Ensure that product is moving according to schedule and requirements and has been communicated to receiving facilities. Ensure product is received in a timely manner. Monitor Supply Chain daily to ensure that both in-transit and transferred units have been properly received and recorded by each facility. Analyze movement of product and provide weekly summaries of carrier performance. Maintain carrier and supplier rate tables, audit and process for payment all warehouse and freight supplier invoices related to the shipment of containerized product from port to warehouse. 10 Manage Vessel and Domestic Plant Production (SMAC) Distribution Process. Manage and work with each involved department to obtain distribution plan(s) and audit distribution plans to ensure they are complete. Create distribution instruction documents and communicate to container freight station or other loading facilities (SMAC) as well as the receiving parties. Enter associated distributions into the Supply Chain System for Motorcycle/ATV and Marine products. 11 Manage Damage Claims for Complete Units and Oversee Ocean Cargo Records for Marine Insurance. File claims for damaged units on behalf of SMAI and dealers with carriers. Maintain database records of associated claims. Monitor payment status and work with carriers to ensure maximum claims reimbursement. Oversee, and process related misc. credit/debits for dealer reimbursement of repair costs. Process internal billings for total loss freight claim damage and warranty replacement units.
Scope of Authority
1 Direct interactions with dealers in delivering quality product and superior service to their facilities. 2 Analyze and study shipping options. Obtaining carrier information from TL and LTL carriers 3 Supervise containerized product warehouses to monitor shipping productivity and quality service 4 Conduct freight cost studies, reports, maps, etc. Analyze the benefits for SMAI to continually provide the best carrier service possible
Three to five years experience in an operations environment, with at least a year in a supervisory position. Extensive customer interaction experience. Freight transportation industry experience preferred. Ability to create reports and analyze systems for continued organizational development.
Computer proficient in MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Word. Excellent organizational skills required. Ability to prioritize various tasks in a fast paced environment. Strong customer service skills.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the City; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
