Research Scientist I IVD / Immunoassay Development, El Cajon, CA
As a Research Scientist you will be responsible for executing and managing immunoassay Research and Development projects based on ELISA and Magentic Bead technologies.
The Research Scientist is expected to function independently in order to research, identify, and source raw materials; design and conduct experiments using those materials; and clearly and concisely communicate findings and conclusions to management as part of the product development process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of immunoassays with emphasis towards disease association and ease of use with timely conclusions. Follow company’s design control guidelines and meet adequate regulatory compliance (FDA, CLIA and ISO) requirements. Work in collaboration with other research scientists. Perform inventory control. Preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other protocols. Work with manufacturing in the transfer of technology for production. Analysis of scientific literature and current developments in the global IVD field Perform contract research responsibilities and troubleshooting / quality monitoring for other departments Make internal solutions for the preparation of R&D component materials. Cleaning and maintenance of R&D equipment. Accurate assessment of inventory levels, and notification of supervisor when material needs to be ordered. Maintain good and effective relationships with other company personnel as well as with supervisor. Bring any unusual events to the supervisor’s attention. Suggest process improvements. Perform other duties as assigned by management
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Medical Technology or Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related discipline (Technician). Special consideration will be given to candidates with Master's degree (MS) or previous experience in IVD / Immunoassay development. Experience in ELISA, Magnetic Bead and/or solid phase immunoassay development required. In depth knowledge and detailed understanding of immunoassay technology preferred. Ability to analyze and interpret data/results. Experience in handling multiple priorities, and the ability to work independently. Scientific knowledge of immunology and associations with human disease preferred. Proficiency with standard office and laboratory analysis software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with GMP / GLP guidelines is helpful. Ability to stand for an 8 hour period of time.
