Tax Accountant Responsibilities: - Familiarize yourself with over 900 affiliated business entities across the US, and their tax reporting requirements. - Prepare required excel worksheets for tax returns. Review and revise tax return data as needed. - Maintain tax department data storage & retrieval system. - Ensure that all business entity K-1s are provided to owners by March 31 and business entity income tax returns are timely filed. Help ensure that all PDS shareholders and owner-dentist clients have projected April 15 tax payment figures in order to file April 15 extension requests; and timely complete income tax returns. - Achieve and maintain proficiency with respect to current tax laws, tax law changes, Lacerte tax software, Solomon accounting software, CCH Tax Research service, and planning opportunities. Planning may involve such areas as retirement planning, sales and tax-deferred exchanges of real estate, estate & gift planning, business acquisitions and dispositions, and tax minimization strategies. - Monitor status of electronic filing of tax returns through Lacerte, to ensure timely filing / acceptance by taxing authorities. - Be familiar with unique provisions of real estate partnerships, and assist with preparation of real estate entity tax returns; provide real estate K-1s to investors by April 8. - Prepare of quarterly estimated tax payments as requested. - In connection with the sale / transfer of an interest in a dental or real estate partnership, as soon as possible after the close of each transfer, calculate the year-to-date allocation of profits to the selling partner, the partner’s basis, and the resulting gain or loss upon sale. - Assist with mid-year and year-end projections for dental practices, parent company, real estate entities, dentists and investors. - Respond to federal, state and local tax inquiries and audit requests as needed. - Assist with property tax and sales & use tax reporting for business entities. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting with at least 1 year experience in business tax compliance and planning.
