Library Systems Collection Development Librarian in Riverside, California

The Collection Development Librarian is responsible for selecting materials for LS&S libraries in designated collection area(s) and assisting Library Directors in developing Collection Performance Plans and Weeding Plans.

• Perform all duties related to materials selection for assigned areas (AV, Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, Reference, Juvenile Fiction, Juvenile Non-Fiction, Young Adult Fiction or Young Adult Non-Fiction) in all assigned libraries

• Profile libraries for assigned genre(s) (AV, Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, Reference, Juvenile Fiction, Juvenile Non-Fiction, Young Adult Fiction and Young Adult Non-Fiction) in LS&S libraries as they are brought into Centralized Selection and update existing profiles on a yearly basis

• Select materials and provide selection lists to all libraries assigned on a set schedule

• Maintain accurate financial records for materials expenditures

• Prepare lists for Purchase Order submission

• Contribute bi-monthly to the Unit communication piece to managers and directors

• Work with assigned libraries on Collection Performance Plans

• Become proficient in using Edelweiss for all aspects of duties and work with library staff as they use this collection maintenance tool

• Assist managers and directors in developing weeding plans for their Collection Performance Plans each year

• Travel to attend all Unit meetings, webinars and collection development workshops and conferences as assigned

• Keep current in aspects of Collection Development by attending appropriate live and online professional development opportunities and reading professional level communications

• Other duties as assigned by the CSU Manager

· Bachelor's Degree required, MLS/MLIS preferred

· 3-5 years of relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience

· Proficient on Microsoft Office; including Excel, Outlook and Word; experience with Edelweiss by Above the Treeline or another collection development software; experience or knowledge of integrated library systems (ILS) software (working knowledge of Polaris and Polaris Acquisitions a plus)

· Working knowledge of the principles and practices of good collection development and collection maintenance

· Versatility, flexibility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines while staying organized and responsive to internal and external customers

· Must have the ability and willingness to develop relationships across all levels of the organization

· Team collaboration, strong work ethic and excellent verbal & written communication skills

· Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professional and effectively in person, on the phone, via formal presentations, electronically or through other means to individuals or groups

· Willingness to travel when required
