The Mechanical Design Manager S01 will be a member of the Mechanical Engineering management team and will report directly to the ME Manager. Provides technical leadership and functional management (mentoring, monitoring, rewarding, recognizing, performance evaluation, and career development) for 6 - 10 mechanical engineers in the development of communication equipment for avionics and ground applications. Will participate in staffing, recruiting, process improvement, tool development and training activities. Job responsibilities are anticipated to require 4 - 8 hours per week. Remainder of time is to be spent directly supporting hardware development efforts.

ERCOMMS

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least 5 years of relevent experience

  • Requires interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as experience in mechanical design of one or more of the following: RF or digital products, antenna products, infrastructure products, and test hardware products, including avionics and ground modules/units, racks, backplanes, antennas and interface test adapters.

  • Shall have experience with electronics packaging design, including tolerance analysis, producibility constraints, solid modeling techniques, GD&T, corrosion control, EMI concerns. Shall be able to support electrical-mechanical tradeoffs and physical qualification testing for new designs. Must have the ability to interpret the results of thermal/structural analyses.

  • Shall have effective verbal and written communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to function within a small technical team.

  • Shall be capable of designing to a hardware requirements specification. Military avionics experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in the use of the CATIA V5, Patran/Nastran and/or Flowtherm tools is preferred.

  • Previous experience as a technical team leader is desirable.
